HOW-TO

Caring for Frankie Flannelette

WASHING

Our Frankie Flannelette sheets, blankets, and pyjamas are pre-washed so you can throw them straight onto your bed. However, due to the fluffy nature of flannelette, we suggest you wash these at home before sleeping together. The more you wash them, the softer they get. Use a small amount of laundry detergent or liquid, then wash separately, or with similar colours on a cool and gentle setting.

DRYING

Give your sheets a good shake after washing to soften crinkles, then hang them on the line in the shade to dry (on a breezy day works best). We recommend you do not tumble dry.

IRONING

Creases will soften and straighten naturally from body warmth while you sleep, but if you still want to iron (in case of guests), turn your sheets inside out and use a warm iron setting.

STORING

Make sure your sheets are completely dry before folding and storing them (nobody likes mould). Don't store them in plastic either, as just like you, your sheets need to breathe.

THE FABRIC

Flannelette

Frankie Flannelette is made from 100% cotton flannelette. It's double-brushed, meaning the material has been brushed on both sides, which gives the texture a soft, velvety feel. Pilling is a common natural occurrence in flannelette (so don’t panic if your sheets are pilling). It happens when the fabric experiences friction, particularly when you first start using it. Pilling won’t happen forever, it will actually lessen over time as loose fibres make their way to the surface. If you want to remove pilling, you can do this by hand, with a lint roller or fabric shaver.
