They say linen is for life. We say Eve Linen is for your dreams.
Sustainably eco-friendly, and made from 100% pure certified French flax linen, our Eve Linen is durable, breathable and easy to care for, not to mention feels incredible. We’re not ones to pick favourites (looking at you, Mum), but really, once you go linen, you’ll never go back.
THE PROCESS
Crop: French flax
Our Eve range is made from a natural 100% French flax linen. Just like the best coffee beans needing a perfect climate to grow, the finest linen is only grown in Western Europe, and that’s exactly why we source it from there.
THE PROCESS
Yarn: See your dreams
One of the best things about linen is that you can actually see the natural strands of yarn in the fabric. Because these yarns are best left with minimal processing, it’s a delicate job to spin and weave them into fabric.
Linen naturally has low static and pilling so it easily weaves an open structure that lets air flow through the fabric.
THE PROCESS
Weave: made with care
A linen fabric weaving machine runs around five times slower than a cotton machine to make sure none of the natural strands are treated too roughly and are broken along the way.
Since linen yarns are left with minimal processing, it’s very normal to see slight knots through the weave which adds to the beautiful texture of the finished fabric.
The benefits
Linen is for life
Linen has the strongest tensile strength of the plant fibres and is 30% thicker and stronger than cotton, which makes it super durable and long wearing. This natural durability makes linen a smart investment for a long-term relationship. We truly believe that linen is for life, and if properly taken care of, can be passed down from generation to generation.
Sustainable and eco-friendly
Linen is made from one of the greenest fabrics around, the flax plant. This resilient plant can flourish in almost any environment and requires much less water than cotton. Linen also creates many by-products, like flax oil and flaxseeds, so it’s as sustainable a plant as they come. Less chemicals are required to treat the fibres and it’s completely biodegradable for when the time comes to say goodbye.
Comfort all year round
Linen is a highly breathable and heat-conductive fabric. In cooler temperatures, linen retains heat from your body to keep you nice and warm. During the summer or in warmer climates, the natural properties of the hollow flax fibres and open weave structure allow air to circulate freely which helps to cool you off.
Linen also has the amazing ability to absorb 20% of its weight in moisture while remaining dry to the touch. Linen softens up every time you use it and its buttery soft hand feel will make it hard to get to work on time.
Easy to care for
Linen has a distinct ‘lived in’ crinkled look which makes it so easy to care for. The porous fabric is easily cleaned, dried, and then thrown back on the bed for another round. The more you wash and use your linen sheets, the softer they become. See more about our care instructions here.
Naturally free from nasties
Linen fibres wick moisture and dry out much faster than cotton fibres, which is the best benefit of their natural antibacterial properties. Because it doesn't let bacteria build up, Linen is perfect for people who suffer from allergies and restless nights.
Sustainability
Buy less, buy better
Everything we make is thoughtfully designed and built to last, which means cutting back on bed sheets you’d otherwise sleep through. While they’re made of natural fibres, and nature does its thing, we’ve endeavoured to make bed sheets so good that any need (or want) to replace them is minimised as much as humanly possible.
Natural fibres
We believe that natural is best, and when using natural fibres, it means that processes involved are better for the environment all round. Natural fibres need to be treated gently in their processing to preserve all of their best features, so we don't use any harsh dyes or chemical treatments.
Farmed, not manufactured
Because our linen sheets are made from natural fibres, it means they are farmed, which has a positive impact on the environment compared to using synthetic fabrics which are manufactured. Our flax linen farms in Europe have actually been found to have a positive impact on eco-system diversity by retaining CO2.
Biodegradable and recyclable
One of the other great reasons to use natural fibres is that should the time come, our sheets are biodegradable. We know, it will be hard to let go. Unlike a cotton plant, which can be picked each season and keep growing, the flax linen plant is uprooted when harvested and the whole plant is used, which leaves no waste. Our packaging is also plastic free and 100% recyclable.
