Sleep Well with Jordan Price
Melbourne-based photographer and business owner Jordan Price has built a life that rarely stands still. With days defined by constant output, he’s the first to admit that slowing down doesn’t come naturally – which is exactly why his evening reset is so essential. We spoke with Jordan about the reality of the "always-on" mindset and the simple rituals he returns to when it’s finally time to trade the screens for fresh sheets.
You work across a few different worlds. How does that shape the pace of your day?
My days are extremely fast-paced, but I would not have it any other way. I feel like I built this busy schedule for myself because when I’m sitting still for too long, I’m significantly bored.
So much of what you do is about creating. Does it ever feel like you’re "always on"?
Definitely. Owning a business is never-ending; there’s no one there to pick up the pieces for you, so you’re constantly thinking about it in the back of your mind.
Do you think you’re good at slowing down, or is it something you’ve had to learn?
I am terrible at switching off! But recently, I’ve added a sauna and ice bath to my routine to help me disconnect and have a little less screen time.
What does the ultimate reset look like for you when you finally have a night to yourself?
It usually starts with the gym or a sauna, followed by a big bowl of pasta and straight into a very long, hot shower. Apologies to my housemates for the water bill! Then diving into fresh sheets. If I could bottle that feeling up, I would.
I’ll usually watch whatever ridiculous TV show I’m into at the time, and – I’m not going to lie – doom scroll for hours on end and probably far past the bedtime that I set myself originally.
