Spring re:fresh

Taking our cue for change from Spring, we thought about how we can bring this spirit of re:newal into our bedrooms. After all, a clean bed is a getaway to a refreshed mind and body. Here are some bedside basics to freshen up your space for Spring.

re:new

It all starts with a dream. You do a lot for your bedroom, but what do you need your bedroom to do for you?  Do you need it to be a quiet, distraction-free space for end-of-day R&R? A cosy pad for cuddle puddles? The first step is understanding what you need out of your bedroom, then building from there.

re:new your space (and yourself in the process) by picking calming colours or mood-boosting linens – you’ll feel like you’re walking into the spa each time you’re in your bedroom. The trick is to tune into your intention – Do pillow forts make you feel relaxed? Are blankets your go-to self soothing technique?  Lean in. Your bedroom, your oasis.

re:juvenate

Use what you learn to re:set your space. Wash and put away heavier winter pieces into storage, or rehome anything you’ve outgrown. Freshen up your layout and let some fresh air in. Give the colours in your bedroom a re:fresh - be gone dark and moody, welcome home light and airy!

Studies show that cleaning plays a big role in reducing anxiety. “Keeping your home clean and engaging in the cleaning process is good for you. In fact, research shows that cleaning—or the lack of cleaning—can have a direct impact on mental health,” says Sherri Gordon in The Relationship Between Mental Health and Cleaning.

Finally, make sure you hold onto all the goodness of your re:freshed bedroom by practising good bedroom hygiene. Wash and change your sheets weekly, light a soothing candle before bed, keep your phone out of your bedroom. Healthy mind and personal space rituals will help setting the tone for a new season of re:juvenation and re:newal.
