We’re all chasing a better night’s sleep. But what does that actually look like? Late-night scrolls, stretching, maybe a cheeky snack — our new Sleep Well series uncovers the nighttime rituals of the people we admire, and how they really wind down. No rules, just real bedtime truths. And maybe a tip or two to steal for yourself. First up: Laura Henshaw, CEO of Kic, with a couple of very cute cameos from her pups, Bill and Ben.
Describe your ideal evening wind down
“Getting off my devices an hour before bed. Does that happen every night? Absolutely not. A very hot shower. I love stretching before bed to release tension. And a guided meditation, even if it’s just five or 10 minutes.”

What’s your current sleep set-up?
“One pillow for my head, and then one between my legs. That sounds sexual but it’s not, it’s just because I’m pregnant!”
What’s one thing you always try to do before bed?
“Cuddle my husband, but since becoming pregnant I run so hot. So now he refuses or we both overheat!”

What’s a nighttime habit you can’t quit?
“My phone. The TikTok doomscrolling is definitely not good for sleep. But it’s so hard to quit!”
Any tips for avoiding the evening doom scroll?
“Put your phone on greyscale so it’s not in colour. It makes it so boring. But do I actually do that every night? No.”
How often do you actually change your sheets?
“Once a week, mainly because we have two golden retrievers that we sometimes let sleep in the bed. The fur gets everywhere.”
